Six Flags Great America is a theme park filled with thrill rides that is located in Gurnee, Illinois, about 30 miles north of the Windy City. Gurnee is just five miles south of the Illinois/'Wisconsin border and draws crowds of fun loving people from the Chicago area, Milwaukee area and beyond. A new thrill ride has been added for the 2008 season, "The Dark Knight," which is based on the new Batman movie by Warner Brothers.

The Dark Knight

New this year is "The Dark Knight" Coaster. The Dark Knight catapults thrill seekers into the front lines of an all-out war between good and evil with hairpin 180 degree turns combined with breakneck speed. The indoor roller coaster is enhanced with hallucinatory nightmare imagery.

The Dark Knight is based on the upcoming Warner Brothers movie of the same name. The indoor roller coaster transforms riders into citizens of Gotham City, which is under siege and town apart by The Joker.

Characters from Batman are used to tell a story along with special effects and thrill movement while riders are plunged into complete darkness. The Gotham City rail car careens through a demented series of hallways, twists, turns, hills and chaotic images. Only Batman can save the day on this thrill immersion into terror.

The movie, which will be released into theaters on July 18, 2008, stars Christian Bale as Batman, Gary Oldman as Lieutenant Jim Gordon, Arron Eckhart as DA Harvey Dent and Heath Ledger as The Joker. The Dark Knight is based on the Batman characters, which are owned by DC Comics, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
