Food Festival Features Spectacular July 4 Fireworks, Entertainment

Taste of Chicago is a food festival that runs June 27 to July 6, with a music lineup on Petrillo Music Shell and two Fireworks Spectaculars for Independence Day.

Chicagoans are gearing up for the Taste of Chicago in Grant Park by the Lake front of Lake Michigan. Taste of Chicago Summer Festival is a food festival, with local restaurants offers smaller size portions of their specialties. Taste is also an entertainment extravaganza, with concerts on stage at Petrillo Music Shell every day.. Taste of Chicago presents music, entertainment, food and two Fireworks shows.

Taste of Chicago is presented by U.S. Cellular June 27 - July 7 in Grant Parks. The opening weekend highlights talent including Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder and the Plain White Ts. The closing weekend features Blue Man Group, Bonnie Raitt and Aly & AJ. Following is additional information about the headlining music lineup.

• Friday, June 27 - Chaka Khan: The music line up at Taste begins with Chaka Khan, from Chicago. Chaka Khan's recent Grammy Award win brings her total of Grammmy's to ten. Careen highlights include "Tell Me Something Good," "I'm Every Woman" and "Funk This." The opening act for Chaka Khan is R&B soul singer and songwriter, Angie Stone. Her recent album is "The Art of Love 7 War." Angie Stone takes the stage at 5:30 pm on Friday night.
• Saturday, June 28 - Stevie Wonder. Stevie Wonder returns to Taste of Chicago on Saturday night at 5:30 pm. Stevie Wonder is a legendary artist, songwriter,musician and producer. Wonder has performed for over four decades and has won an amazing 25 Grammy Awards..
• Sunday, June 29 - Plain White T's and Josh Kelley: Plain White T's is a Chicago area band that hit the national spotlight with major hit record, "Hey There Delilah." Josh Kelley, singer/songwriter, will begin the evening's performance at Petrillo at 5 pm. Kelly's latest album, "Special Company" was inspired by his wife: Grey's Anatomy actress Katherine Heigl.
• Monday, June 30 - Broadway in Chicago Concert in the Park: Broadway;'s biggest and best shows will be represented. Best of Broadway will be headlined by casts from Broadway hits in Chicago. Cast members from Jersey Boys, Wicked, Legally Blonde and A Chorus Line.
• Tuesday, July 1 - Joss Stone and Ryan Shaw: Grammy nominee has sold more than 7 million records. Her latest release is "Introducing Joss Stone." Ryan Shaw is a young voice bring back the golden age of Rhythm and Blues. Ryan Shaw opens the evening's performance at 5:30 pm.
• Wednesday, July 2 - Fantasia and Estelle: This one time winner of American Idol has experienced Grammy nominations and a Lifetime movie based on her best selling biography. Opening for Fantasia is Estelle, who hails from England. The concert begins at 5:30 pm.
• July 3 - City of Chicago's Independence Eve Fireworks Spectacular and Grant Park Orchestra. Grant Park Orchestra begins the evening with music at 8 pm. The fireworks spectacular over Monroe Harbor will be accompanied by music provided by 101.9 THE MIX. The fireworks show starts at 9:30 pm. The City of Chicago Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular will be broadcast on WGN-TV.
• July 4 - Concert and Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular: Alejandro Escovedo, Gomez: The City of Chicago and 93XRT concert begins at 3 pm with Alejandro Escovedo, who will release his ninth album,"Real Animan,: just before the Taste of Chicago. Co-headliner is Gomez, a band that has been touring and recording for over a decade. After the concert, a second fireworks extravaganza. The Fourth of July Fireworks begin at 9:30 pm.
• July 5: Bonnie Raitt: The City of Chicago, Bud Light Music and 93XRT present Bonnie Raitt. Raitt is a singer, songwriter and guitarist. Bonnie Raitt t blends R&B, Blues, Pop and rock. Raitt is a nine0time Grammy Award winner. Featured hits include "Something to Talk About" and "I Can't Make You Love Me." Bonnie Raitt takes the stage at 4:30 pm.
• July 6 - Aly & AJ: The 28th Annual Taste of Chicago will close their 28th annual festival with a day planned for family enjoyment. The performance is presented by Radio Disney 1300 AM Chicago. Aly & AJ are musical sister with a distinct sound. Opening for Aly & AJ is KeKe Palmer, who takes the stage at 2 pm.

Taste of Chicago is a free music festival. Tickets for food can be purchased on the grounds and at Dominick's Food Stores in advance. Advance Ticket purchased in advance at Dominick's using the Fresh Values Card, are less expensive than the tickets purchased at the festival.
