Snow Days is a free Chicago winter festival on held February 11-16 on Michigan Avenue in Grant Park. See magnificient sculptures, dog sleds, snowboarding and family fun.

The City of Chicago invites everybody to get outside and play in the fresh air and snow at Grant Park. Snow Days festival features fun for children and adults and is a great outing for the entire family to enjoy together.

Snow Days Chicago is a free five day winter festival that will take place on February 11 – 16 on Michigan Avenue in Grant Park. The free festival features fun event includes a national snow sculpting competition, dog sled demonstrations a snowboard rail jam and activities for kids. The entire family can enjoy the winter wonderland at the Chicago Lakefront.

2009 is the first ever year for this winter event in the Windy City. This festive winter festival is free and features fun for the entire family. Snow Days is fund for family groups, romantic dates, groups of friend and for a solo adventure in the city.

Snow Sculpture Competition

Snow Days highlights 27 unique and beautiful sculptures made entirely out of snow. The main feature of Snow Days is the chance to see wondrous sculptures artistically rendered entirely out of snow.

National snow sculptors will carve pieces of art out of snow. The Snow Sculpting Competition will be held in the Spirit of Music Garden, located just off of Michigan Avenue, in Grant Park

National artists render works of art during the snow sculpture competition. The sculptures will be on display until February 16 or until they melt. Some of the snow sculptures from past competitions on the Snow Vision website include a magnificent eagle, swan, birds, penguins, polar bears, people and more.

Teams of Chicago area high school students will also get a chance to test their skill as a snow sculpting n the High School Exhibition area.

Snow Days will take place regardless of weather, as they create their own snow.

Dog Sled Demonstrations

Dog Sled Demonstrations will give people a chance to experience this popular arctic event with demonstration of dogs sleds and weight pulling from Green Valley Dog Drivers The demonstrations will take place hourly from 12 pm – 6 pm from February 11-15.

Snow Board Rail Jam

The Raging Buffalo Snowboard/Ski Park USASSA Team will demonstrate urban snowboarding daily from 6 pm to 8 pm.

Kids Tent

The Kids Tent offers a place to warm up and special activities for kids. Each day features a different craft theme, including Valentine’s Day, Lincoln’s Birthday, President’s Day, Black History Month and winter.

The Mayor’s Office of Special Events is producing Snow Days Chicago Winter Festival along with Snow Visions.
