The Macy's holiday windows feature delightful hand sculpted figurines in fabulous detailed costumes. The windows progress in sequence, telling the story of the ballet.

The Nutcracker Suite is a holiday tradition, that many people revisit each holiday season. The holiday fantasy is about a young girl on Christmas. She receives a nutcracker that is broken by her mischievous brother. Heartbroken, young Clara goes to bed to dream of dancing toys, the Sugar Plum Fairy, a battle of mice led by the mouse king, the mysterious Dr. Drosselmeyer and a nutcracker turned gallant prince. Dancing toys and waltzing snowflakes are a visual dream as they come to life under the grand Christmas Tree in the family parlor.

The music score by Tchaikovsky is rich, with familiar melodies. Dancers are garbed in lavish Victorian period costumes, creating a lively visual picture on stage.

Joffrey has a tradition of inviting over 120 young dancers from around the Chicago area, including Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. In addition to the dancers, vocalists from the Chicago area perform choral parts. The choirs also delight audiences with seasonal musical selections in the main lobby of the Auditorium Theatre one half hour before the curtain rises and during intermission.

Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University

The Audiorium Threare was built as a grand opera house during the end of "the gilded age" in 1889. The magnificent historic building has seats on the main floor, at orchestra level and on three balconies. The Auditorium Theatre is located at 50 East Congress Parkway, Chicago, Illinois.
