Independence Day Celebrations in Village Northwest of the Windy City

Festivals across Chicagoland celebrate the 4th of July with parades, entertainment, food and fireworks. Here are events in Arlington Heights, Wheeling and Palatine, IL.

Independence Day is celebrated with parades where the American flag is waved, festivals and fireworks across the United States.The Taste of Chicago is a huge festival held in Chicago, Illinois.. The Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, hold community festivals to celebrate America's birthday. Following is information about the weekend festivities in Arlington Heights, Wheeling and Palatine in Chicago's northwest suburbs.

Arlington Heights Frontier Days Festival

Arlington Heights Frontier Days Festival. Wednesday, July 2 through Sunday, July 6. Frontiers Days features free entertainment on three stages. food, family events, carnival rides and sports activities. The Fourth of July Parade in Arlington Heights is one of the largest parades in the suburbs. The Independence Day Parade starts at 10:00 am on Friday, July 4. The parade steps off at Dunton and Oakton Streets and travels south on Dunton to Miner and then East to Recreation Park. There is an outdoor craft and marketplace on Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Featured acts at the 33rd annual Frontier Days Festival:

  • Wednesday, July 2 at 8:00 pm: Night Ranger
  • Thursday, July 3 at 8:00 pm: Little River Band
  • Friday, July 4 at 8:00 pm: American English, Beatles Tribute Band
  • Saturday, July 5 at 8:00 pm: Dennis DeYoung with The Music of Styx
  • Sunday, July 6 at 7:30 pm: Dot Dot Dot

Frontier Days is held in Recreation Park in Arlington Heights. Admission is free. The Festival starts at 5:00 pm on Wednesday and Thursday. The festival starts at noon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Fourth of July Fireworks held July 3 at Arlington Park Racetrack

July 3 Fireworks at Arlington Park Racetrack. Fireworks light up the skies on Thursday, July 3. Fireworks are held after the day's horse races. Gates open to the public for the fireworks show at 7:00 pm. Fireworks take place at dusk. Try to arrive early to get a good seat.

Wheeling Freedom Fest

Wheeling Freedom Fest runs Thursday, July 3 through Saturday, July 5. The Freedom Fest is moving to a new location for 2008. The event is being held onto the Park District property behind Joseph the Worker Church. Freedom Fest features great food from Wheeling restaurants, parade, fireworks and children's activities. The Wheeling Fourth of July Parade is held on Friday evening, July 4 at 6:00 pm. The Fireworks show is on July 4 at 9:15 pm.

  • Thursday, July 3: Trash Martini, 7th Heaven and Verve Pipe
  • Friday, July 4: Nikki O'Neill, Elvis Tribute, Wheeling Parade, Infinity, Fireworks, Elevations and U2Tribute
  • Saturday, July 5: Justin Roberts, Bottle of Justus, Ingram Hill and Gin Blossoms.

Palatine Jaycees 51st Annual 4th of July

The Palatine, Illinois festival runs Wednesday, July 2 through Saturday, July 5. Palatine's Independence Day Parade is on Saturday, July 5 at 10 am. Hometown Fest features bands, carnival, food and soda. Fireworks on on July 3, Thursday night.
