Recognized as the soybean capitol of the world, the city of Decatur is a busy place to visit during early August. The reason for the influx of tourists to the area is Decatur's popular event known as the Decatur Celebration. Held annually, this street festival hosts a variety of musical acts along with many standard carnival activities including an arts and crafts show, cooking contest, street vendors, rides and of course lots of tasty food.
Many attending the festival opt to lodge a little away from the crowds. One convenient location is that of the village of Forsyth, about five miles from the center of the city of Decatur.
