The magical Christmas holidays are a time of gaiety, brightness and lights. The entire Chicagoland area celebrates the season with lights displays and animated figures. People in the suburbs of Chicago have delightful choices in special holiday events and shows, including light shows at the zoos, Arlington Park Racetrack, Cuneo Museum and the Chicago Botanical Gardens in Glencoe. The suburban area, outside of the City offers some spectacular holiday light displays,. An evening outing viewing holiday lights an enjoyable, relaxing way to spend time with the family or a romantic date. Following are some wonderful light shows in the Chicago area. Dates have been updated for 2008. Holiday Magic at Brookfield Zoo. On eleven days during the holidays, Nearly one million twinkling lights will line the walkways at Brookfield Zoo. the park comes to life with live music, carolers, celebrity storytellers m, magicians and more. Holiday Magic come to the Brookfield Zoo on Saturdays and Sundays in December. Dates include: December 6-7, 13-14, 20-21 and December 26-31. Lincoln Park Zoo Zoolights in Chicago. Free light show at Lincoln Park Zoo is a favorite. Huge lighted animal sculptures that cast a magical holiday glow at the Lincoln Park Zoo during the annual Zoolights Festival. The Zoolights Festival is a delightful holiday event for the entire family. Over one million lights and ice carvings create a`magical holiday display The illuminated animal sculptures will be displayed on varied dates in November and December. Dates include November 28-30, December 5-7 December 12 -January 4. Admission to the Lincoln Park Zoo is free. Clearbrook's Wonderland of Lights at Arlington Park Racetrack in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The drive through holiday event benefits Clearbrook's people with disabilities. The grounds of the racetrack are illuminated by large animated figures and bright holiday lights. The entire family can enjoy displays such as as the Twelve Days of Christmas, Toyland, Night Before Christmas, North Pole Elf Company, Tumbling Teddy Bear sand more. Arlington Park is north of Woodfield Mall. November 28 - January 1. Admission is $10-$12 per car. Cuneo Museum Winter Wonderland Holiday Light Show in Vernon Hills, IL from from November 28 through January 3. The grounds of the Cuneo Estate are covered brightly lit figures of animals, elves and characters from children's stories. The holiday display is a delightful family outing or romantic date. The drive through show is open 6 pm to 10 pm. Monday - Thursday the fee is $5 per vehicle. Friday, Saturday and Sunday the fee is $10 per vehicle. Cuneo is located near the intersection of Highway 60 and Milwaukee Avenue, behind Hawthorne Shopping Mall in Vernon Hills. Wonderland of Lights at Chicago Botanical Gardens in Glencoe, Illinois The outdoor garden grounds are illuminated with over 750,000 festive lights in a magnificent holiday display. Trees and shrubs on the grounds are festively decorated. Inside, the Regenstein Center is a magical wonderland of model trains, plants and architecture. The Wonderland Express runs from November 28 through January 4 Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for children. The City of Chicago features spectacular lights displays, particularly at Navy Pier, the Magnificent Mile and the Daley Plaza German Christmas Market called Christkindlmarkt. The City of Chicago and the Chicagoland area are beautifully decorated for the Christmas Holiday season. Consider staying at one of the fashionable Magnificent Mile Hotels on Chicago's Gold Coast.
