Chicago is notorious for its array of Halloween celebrations that make even the most fickle people say trick or treat. These four fun events are for adults only.

Chicago and its suburbs have some of the best Halloween celebrations around. From haunted houses and ghost tours to parades and club parties, Halloween is no longer just for the kids. Check out any of these attractions this year and brew up a scary-good time for any taste and budget.

The North Halsted Street Halloween Parade Is a Free Visual Treat in the City

Kick off the Halloween festivities on Chicago’s northwest side with the 13th annual parade. This year’s parade has a mad hatter theme hosted by Chicago LGBT community celebrity Miss Foozie. The parade kicks off at 6:00 p.m. and will be going north on Halsted from Belmont to Addison. The parade features a costume contest, and participants can register at Spin Nightclub starting at 4:00 p.m. This registration is free and is just for adults, but keep in mind that grandma probably wouldn’t enjoy the festivities either. This parade is a fun and free way to enjoy the creative aesthetic atmosphere for which Halloween is famous.

Scope Out Naperville’s Weird, Creepy, and Just Plain Frightening Past with Its Historic Ghost Tour

Naperville story teller Diane Ladley is the founder of the Historic Ghost Tour of Naperville and takes visitors on a two hour walking tour of the Chicago suburb. The tour encompasses Naperville’s downtown area , North Central College campus, and the Naperville historical center. Ladley claims to have done over four decades of research on Naperville’s paranormal activity and her tour outlines all the tragic events and weird happenings of the western suburb’s past. This ghost hunting tour also comes with free ghost hunting equipment. The tour costs $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for kids and is payable in cash only. Call (630) 978-7033 for more information.

Navy Pier’s Haunted House Puts the Fear in the Heart of Chicago

Navy Pier’s The Fear haunted house claims to be the scariest in Chicago this Halloween. The Fear boasts an array of evil monsters and ghouls and challenges its visitors to make it all the way through the twists and turns of the maze-like house. The Fear is designed for adults only, and boasts that any child who suffers through it will need psychiatric help. Individual tickets start at $20 for regular admission and $25 for VIP line jumping admission.

Check Out the W Hotel for a Night on the Town This Halloween

The W Hotel is hosting an elegant Halloween bash in its city center location on Halloween night. Situated in the center of downtown Chicago, this luxury hotel chain is among the trendiest opened in recent years. Celebrity performer Kaya Jones of the Pussycat Dolls and several well-known DJs will be performing. There is also a costume contest and $1,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs. Tickets for the party are $30 and should be purchased in advance.

These four events are just the beginning when it comes to Halloween celebrations in Chicago. Whether a tourist or Chicago native is looking for a scare, a sultry soiree with costumes, or a colorful celebration this Halloween, Chicago’s enthusiasm for Halloween will never disappoint.
